A Quick Journey Through the Bible - Week 1

First of all, this was the first week with child care. The kids had fun, while the adults had a good time too in the new study.

This week was an introduction and overview. The main take away was:
  • The salvation story of the bible can be more easily read as a narrative; which can be done with 14 books. The remaining books, no less important, are supplemental.
  • The Catechism of the Catholic Church helps take all of the Catholic "stuff" we have learn throughout history and organizes in four sections or pillars.
The video was very informative and humorous at times. Our group discussions also was very enjoyable.

Here is a link to the 90 day reading plan: http://assets.ascensionpress.com/tga/student/90DayReadingPlan.pdf

If you missed this week... not a problem. It's easy jump in next week. Join us then.

The Bible is Not Just any Story—It is Your Story. Discover How To Read It.

We're starting a new Bible study starting this Thursday night. Child care is available. Meet at the youth center's library at 7pm. Here's the promo:
Discover God’s plan for your life as you discover his amazing story in A Quick Journey Through The Bible.

In this study, you will discover the “big picture” of the biblical story as it is presented in specific books of the Bible. Join us and learn the major people, places, events and themes of the Bible. Perhaps for the first time in your life, you will understand the overview of the Bible story. This then makes your Bible reading and even the Sunday mass readings come alive like never before.

Caroling at the Nursing Homes 12/15

Tonight we went out Christmas caroling at a couple of nursing homes in Conway. We sang several standard songs like Silent Night, Jingle Bells, and We Wish You a Merry Christmas. The residents were very welcoming and often joined in the singing. All agreed we must make this an annual event. Thanks Katie for making all the arrangements! Merry Christmas, everyone!
